Clean water. Real change.
We equip local leaders to help families access clean drinking water at home. Through follow-up surveys, we learn how filters are being used and what families report about their health.
Twelve years of clean water, and counting.
Families reported less illness.
Among 849 households in El Salvador surveyed before receiving a filter and again at follow-up, the percentage reporting diarrhea within the previous two weeks fell from 20% to 4%.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| El Salvador | 849 | 20.0% | 4.1% | 176 |

Percentages refer to households reporting diarrhea within the previous two weeks. Follow-up timing and survey methods varied. Honduras findings cover La Mosquitia.
How we measure and learn.
Local leaders and program teams collect distribution and follow-up information in mWater. These records help us understand reported health changes, filter use, and where families may need more support.
About these figures
- Overall reach figures come from ATTA’s organizational records. They are separate from the survey findings on this page and from the distribution counts recorded in survey data.
- Survey findings come from ATTA’s mWater records from 2022 onward, downloaded November 2, 2026.
- Each comparison follows the same households, matched by filter barcode, using the first follow-up at least 30 days after distribution.
- The El Salvador filter-use figure is 778 of 826 respondents. Twenty-three of the 849 matched households did not answer the filter-use question.
- Findings are self-reported and describe surveyed households, which may not represent every household served.
- Follow-up timing and survey methods varied. In El Salvador, the middle half of follow-ups took place 72 to 233 days after distribution. Surveys included household visits, group visits, and phone calls, and some earlier records do not note the method. Figures are rounded.
